Happy International Mother Language Day

As a Torontonian with Cantonese as my mother tongue, International Mother Language Day highlights the beauty of our city’s linguistic diversity. In Toronto, a melting pot of cultures, speaking Cantonese connects me to my heritage. This day reminds us all to cherish and safeguard the many languages that enrich Toronto, building a more inclusive community for the generations to come. 國際母語日提醒我哋要珍惜同守護令多倫多得以豐富多彩嘅一眾語言,包括我哋嘅母語——廣東話,從而為未來世代建立更包容嘅社區。

We acknowledge the land we are meeting on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
