I had the incredible opportunity to join an Indigenous-led picnic and medicine workshop in High Park, situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinabewaki, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas of the Credit.
During the workshop, we explored Indigenous health practices and discovered the wealth of Indigenous medicines that can be found in High Park and throughout the Toronto area. Among the valuable teachings, we discussed the significance of the four sacred medicines: tobacco, sage, cedar, and sweetgrass. In addition, we learned how to respectfully harvest cedar, honoring the land and nature.
This experience shed light on the profound connections between Indigenous culture, people, the land, and the diverse beings that inhabit our world. It's a reminder of the importance of understanding and respecting these relationships.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to indigenouskwe_siera the organizers for bringing us this meaningful and enlightening event.
